The California State Assembly is the lower house of the California State Legislature. There are 80 members of the State Assembly. The state legislature meets in the state capital, Sacramento.

Assemblymembers serve two year terms and face election in years evenly divisible by two. Members of the Assembly are limited to three terms.

Each Assemblymember represents approximately 423,396 Californians.
