Claire City is a town located in Roberts County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 85.
Geography
\nClaire City is located at 45°51'27" North, 97°6'10" West (45.857403, -97.102739)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
\nAs of the census of 2000, there are 85 people, 37 households, and 28 families residing in the town. The population density is 182.3/km² (465.6/mi²). There are 42 housing units at an average density of 90.1/km² (230.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 88.24% White, 0.00% African American, 11.76% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race. There are 37 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.5% are married couples living together, 10.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% are non-families. 24.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.30 and the average family size is 2.64.
