Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

     From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Ferdinand "Bong-Bong" Romualdez Marcos, Jr. (born September 13, 1957) is the only son of Ferdinand Edralin Marcos, the former president of the Philippines (1965 - 1986), and former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos. He is currently the governor of Ilocos Norte, his father's home province.

He is Batac, Ilocos Norte's second source of pride after his father. The younger Marcos completed his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science, Philosophy and Economics at Oxford University in England in 1978. He pursued a Master's Degree in Business Administration at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, USA, a course he completed in 1981.

His political career started with his election to Ilocos Norte's vice-gubernatorial post in 1980. His term expired in 1983, when he was elected as governor, and he served in that office until 1986. He then was elected as Representative of the 2nd district of Ilocos Norte in the Congress of the Philippines, serving from 1992 until 1995. After an unsuccessful run for a seat in the Philippine Senate, he again was elected to the gubernatorial post in 1998, serving two consecutive terms ending in 2004. He is currently seeking a third consecutive (and last) term as governor of Ilocos Norte.
