Hardware
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Hardware is a word customarily used to describe fasteners, keys, locks, hinges, wire, chains, plumbing supples, tools, utensils, cutlery, machine parts--especially when they are made of metal. Hardware also refers to major military equipment. Hardware has been traditionally sold in "hardware stores", which are stores that specialize in the selling of hardware. Hardware stores were once as much a part of American small town culture as the drug store soda fountain and local church, but in recent years larger "building materials" centers have outmoded them.
