New Wave

The term "New Wave" has been used to describe several movements in art. These include:

• The New wave music movement which occurred in the U.S and U.K in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
• The New Wave movement in science fiction.
• Punk rock music, referring specificly to music in the U.K during the 1970s.
• The French new wave, or (nouvelle vague), movement in film.

The term is also a name of a software product released by Hewlett-Packard circa 1988. See NewWave (HP software).
